It has gone generic. Many pharmacies have ordered it but do not have it in yet. Mine did not and they charged me for the regular even though it was not my fault they didn’t have the generic. For me, it was only 5 dollars....but I know for many of you it can be way more than that. Please ask before handing over your script or having your pdoc call it in. Good luck to everyone!!

 Huh?
Hi Kristen248 and Phyllis

Someone told me a couple of months ago that it would go generic.  I guess that is good for the cost but I always wonder if the generic will treat my problems as well.  I feel Lamictal is one of the important medications I take so I hope the generic works as well.

I did notice from my insurance statements that Lamictal had raised their price about six months ago and was getting rather expensive.  I will check with my pharmacy to make sure they will have some when I need my refill.

Thanks for the news.

This is great news!  My student insurance ran out and I was having to spend $240/mo on these meds.  btw, they say that there is a slight risk of contracting stevens-johnson syndrome when taking it, has anyone ever heard of that actually happening?

Less than 1% end up with Stevens-Johnson.  Not a huge deal just start out really low and ramp up slow.

I have been on the generic Lamictal for about 2 months now I guess...seems like it's been the last two scripts anyway. It seems to be working the same as the original.

I don't know what the hell this Steven-Johnson's syndrome is, but if it's 1%, I'll get it, you can be sure of that lol. I did start out low on it a year ago, and have never experienced any problems of effects that I know of with it.

It's the best drug I take. I'll have to google this syndrome and see what it is 'cause I've never heard of it...I thought I was an informed, intelligent idividual. Undecided

The pharmacy finally started giving me the generic. Now, I'm just waiting for them to give me the generic for Lunesta and I'll be set! (There is one, my insurance wants me on it instead of Lunesta but the pharmacy doesn't carry it yet)

High, you are funny. LOL.  Stevens-Johnson is a nasty skin deal where your skin bubbles up and sort of ... well...falls off.  If you were going to develop Stevens Johnson you would have done that when you first started taking Lamictal.  We pass out Lamictal around here like candy.  All three of us are on it and we have never had any problems.  The thing I like about it the most, besides no weight gain, is that it works for Fox's and Syd's seizures as well as a mood stabilizer for both of them.

It works good on my seizures also...I had some bad ones while on lithium, but it was discontinued and I have only had some shakes since. The lithium didn't cause a problem until i was increased to the large dosage. It's a shame because the lithium, in lower dose was doing well.
