I'm Kate. This is a nice site. I heard about it on Nami.org, so you still live on, Paz. I am 26...I was diagnosed a year ago after quite a manic episode. I thought it was situational. It wasn't. So much. I had a manic episode a year later, extremely destructive and psychotic...zero sleep. And now I say-Ok. What can I do? What can I learn about this? I care about myself and I acknowledge that I have Bipolar Disorder. I really like to read about people who have conquered the illness. I am always looking for inspiration, as I just started to receive treatment. I am having a pretty rough time right now. I am doing a lot of reflecting about my whole life. I really think I am at a turning point and I hope that I make the right choices in treatment. Aaand I would love to come back often and read about everyone here.

Welcome to the site, Kate!
Please do come back often and make your mark on the site. I built the site because Paz got booted from NAMI for having a manic episode. The idea here is to have a place for people with bipolar where they won't be banned for being bipolar.
Hope to see you often.
Derek

Kate, I have had bipolar disorder all my life. Was diagnosed 25 years ago and have been stable for the past 20 (sorry paz). You might want to read my book about my journey to stability. Just click on the book advertisement on the top right hand corner of the page. If not, just know that it is possible to make it. I had many adventures before I finally went for help and finally found the right meds. I am a friend of paz' so found bpbabble early. I hope you stay around and get to know everyone.

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I have let my wrath go on the internet, too. heh I completely understand. Thanks for the welcome and I will look into the book. I am reading everything I can. I just went to the library today and checked out like 10 lbs worth of books. I was VERY skeptical about medication. So many friends told me that it was something I could handle on my own. Well, it is me that has to manage the utter hell brought on by not myself but what I have come to realize is BP. And I am getting a lot of negative feedback in some places. People are so interested in why I am not working. I am not talking to very many people right now. But I have always retreated. I hope this is the last time or at least the last time at this intense magnitude.

Hi Kate, I'm glad you found the site....it's nice to know that I live on. I think I am infamous at NAMI, due to the fact that I posted while severely manic, and my punishment from them was harsh. It's been over a year and I still am not allowed to post. This is why my very cool husband built this site for me. I have been diagnosed Bipolar for 16 months, and now I am starting to level out. Don't give up hope, sometimes it takes awhile for the right combo of meds to work. I know at first that it is frightening, especially when you start meds. Hang in there, we are all here for you. Visit often. Paz.
