Angels are #1 with me...but rainbows are the cats ass!   Rainbows seem to equate primarily to three concepts: promises, creation, and bridges. Promises made, kept, or desired ... The rainbow also symbolizes the covenant between God and man, and Gods promises to Noah that He would never again flood the entire earth. Genesis 9:8-17... The "Rainbow Run" is the name of the race... to raise money, for a support group called "Parents Support Group With Children With Cancer". I have been a member of this support group for 32 years.
I want to tell you a true, & needless to say, a phenomenal story about a beautiful rainbow. To do the story justice, I'll will be doing some maneuvering.
Becky is my X's 2nd cousin. Becky's brother (Danny) worked with my fiance (Janice). Danny passed (cancer) on Sept 12, 1977. Janice passed, (cancer) on Nov 24, 1977. Becky by no means is a writer, but she composed a extraordinary poem about her brother, & read it at the funeral. So fast forword, 13 years to, Sept 24, 1990. This is the day, daughter (Laura) passed (Leukemia).
Becky was so moved by Laura's death...she started to compose a poem. Our family had no clue Becky was writing this poem. It was a Sunday, in April of 1991. We were all bummed out, because we had a family outing planned...& had to cancell because of rain. At about 2:00 pm the rain stopped & Nick & Sarah went outside. All of a sudden the kids where yelling " Dad...Mom you have to come out to the front...& see this"! So Lynn & I went out & there was this glorious rainbow. This rainbow was awesome...best one I ever lied my eyes on. Clear cut from one horizon...to the other. Sky was a milder shade of blue...with zero clouds in the sky. The rainbow just glimmered in the sky...this imposing arch in the heavens. We were all spellbound...looking upward...at this wonder of nature. In a rush of emotion, I blurted out..."This rainbow is a sign from Laura"! Here's all 4 of us...gazing skyword...crying. Then who comes pulling up but Becky & her family...delivering the poem. They bolt out of their car...& they are crying. So Becky presents us with the poem...the poem is miraculous, prodigious, marvelous, sublime...a virtual work of art. And what to the disbelief of all of us...how is it possible, this can all come together...a event of epic proportions...a happening not one of us will forget...THE MAIN THEME OF BECKY'S POEM IS RAINBOWS. We all ended up...kneeing on the lawn...hugging each other...crying tears of joy....Joe Buck (Bob)
