Hi everyone!

I know that you have a post on Geodon and read it, but it stopped after HIGH posted in June.

I went to my doctor's today and they put me on 40 mg. of Geodon, 2X a day.  Once in the morning, once at night.  He told me right off that the best treatment that THEIR offices have found for Bipolar disorder is using Geodon or Abilify.

Anywho...he told me right off that for the first week or 2 I may feel very tired all the time.  After that, I will most likely start "buzzing" around.  He said;however, that they have had great results and feedback from their patients using this medication.

He was a very very wonderful person (he was different than my regular doctor).  I liked him alot  Smiley He talked to me and made me feel very calm and comfortable.  I'm willing to try this medication.  I really thought they were going to put me back on Topamax, but am glad that he didn't.

So, now, my question is...since the last post on Geodon, has anyone else been on it or the people who were on it, did your symptoms improve, get worse, etc...etc...etc...
javascript:void(0);
I just would like some more feedback if possible Smiley I'm kind of "looking forward" to taking it you could say.  Not sure why I'm feeling very positive about this particular med, but I am...

Also, it says that one of the side effects is a rash...has anyone experienced that?

Or how about this, what side effects, if any, has anyone experienced?

Thanks guys!!! WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!! I take my first pill tonight ...

Hugs,
*Chelbie*

I haven't taken Geodon but my doc wanted to try me on it once and I said no because I love my seroquel too much, even if it does cause weight gain. I have heard nothing but good things about Geodon though, I think you will find that it works well.

Hi Chelbie,

I think that the best way to find out if Geodon is good for you is to try it.  We are all so different, and each one of us responds to meds differently.  I hope it helps!  You go girl!

Chelbie...I don't remember what I posted last on the Geodon, but I was taking Geodon and Seroquel together and they are both antipsychotics...Well, when I lost my insurance, after it ran out from losing my job, I started the disability and medicaid and all of that shit and medicaid will not pay for two antipsychotics, so I had to pick one. That was a hard decision for me because I knew that coming off of either one of them would cause withdrawals, and it did of course, which was utter hell yet again. Anyway, most of my problems with this illness come due to not sleeping and the Seroquel is the only thing that I've ever found to make me sleep, so I picked the Seroquel, but everything in my life has gone downhill since discontinuing the Geodon. I hate to change things again, but I honestly think that I'm going to tell the doc to cut out the Seroquel and add the Geodon, as it was a very good med...

Best of luck to 'ya

Phyllis,

Did you notice when using GEODON that your hair was actually "thin" and "greasy" like?  I know it is supposed to cause hair loss, but it's making my hair feel weird....

I haven't taken it, but I have heard that in high dosages it causes hair to fall out? I might have this mixed up with another drug, so don't quote me on that.

Hey Chelbie... I have now been put back on the Geodon. 120mg per day. This doc, unlike my former one, also stressed the issue on taking the med with a full meal. I, of course am unsure at this time what will come of it, but last night I didn't sleep well and felt very restless. She also gave me benadryl to take for the restlessness, but I ended up taking a valium a little bit later. I hate that feeling. I'm feeling it right now...like I could just jump out of my own skin....we'll keep in touch on the subject...

High, please forgive me for sounding stupid, but ...120 mg??? a day??? wow...my doctor only gave me 40 mg/day.  Why did they start you off so up there?  Even if you took it before, don't you feel that they should have started it off lower?  No wonder you feel like you wanna jump out of your skin!!! Even with being on 40 mg/day I feel so hyper.  If I don't take my meds in the right order (XANAX first in the morning, then GEODON...then GEODON first at night and then XANAX last)...then I feel strange...and I also have to make sure I nap during the day if I don't...then I'm tired by 7:00 p.m.  Last night I took at nap at 6:00 and got up at 6:45...and was STILL tired and couldn't stay awake Sad But now today, I took a nap from 1-4 and I'm wired.  So, I know I'll be up for awhile lol

Hugs,
