I saw where Chelbie posted that her Lamictal gave her UTI's. Does anyone know anything about this? I have had 3 UTI's in the last year and this last one was said by the dr. to have "unusual" cells in it he gave me an antibiotic and a follow-up appointment for this coming up tuesday. I never thought of it being linked to the Lamictal, because I have always been somewhat prone to UTI's, but not as much as now.

http://epilepsy.emedtv.com/lamictal/lamictal-side-effects-p2.html Rare Lamictal Side EffectsLess common side effects of Lamictal are also possible. These side effects occurred in less than 5 percent of people taking the drug. Because these side effects are so rare, it can be difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by Lamictal or by other factors unrelated to the medication. Some of these less common side effects include but are not limited to: * Vaginal infection or irritation * Speech problems * Bladder infection (urinary tract infection or UTI) * Concentration problems * Joint pain * Loss of appetite * Neck pain * Sinus infection * Sensitivity to the sun * Nervousness * A spinning sensation (vertigo) * Memory loss (amnesia) * Increased sex drive * Bloody nose * Dry skin * Sweating * Migraine headaches * Weight gain

Do you think you'd be more at risk for bladder infections with Lamictal if you already get them frequently? I get at least two or three a year as it is.

Well, shit...my only reliable drug...ugh ugh ugh oh me! You wouldn't believe the bladder problems I've had lately. The damn thing leaks like I'm a 60 yr. old woman. I have to wear a damn pad all the time. No doc ever mentioned that it could be the lamictal...so now, do i piss my pants, or quit lamictal? What wonderful choices we get to make. Sanility, or pissy britches? Bullshit! All Bullshit! I hate meds! I hate mania! I hate depression! I hate all that I am!

I am remembering that Phyllis, but you know how I am...if I get a bladder infection, I convince myself that I'm dying of bladder cancer lol...I always look at the worse case scenario when it has to do with me...Now, if it were you in this situation, I could give you some positives lol.

With the lamictal weight gain and the other meds i take that have weight gain side effect, i guess i'm just gonna be fat forever. I'm trying hard not to take that attitude and eat everything in my house. I am trying to eat healty anyway. I think that eating bad makes me feel worse that i already do.

Actually, Lamictal is the most weight neutral of all the mood stabilizers. Syd and I both have taken Lithium and it puts on the pounds. Many other meds like Seroquel are really bad I am sure you already know. Syd still takes Seroquel because it is the only anti-psychotic that works for her. We have had really good luck with Lamictal and no weight gain. Of course the first time I tried Lamictal I got totally wicked manic. This is trial number 2 for that drug. Let's face it, we are destined to be squishy or squashy or whatever you guys said. I have given up on achieving my goal weight or for that matter getting within 25 pounds of it ever again.
