Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't been on but been having some issues with my meds.

For about 3 weeks now, I've been having a hard time with being on just 80 mg. of Geodon.  So, my doctor raised my dosage yesterday to 120 mg. of Geodon and today I had THE WORSE REACTION!!! After only taking two doses, my body went through severe anxiety and shaking!!! If I didn't think it was the one way, I would have thought it was withdrawal, but it wasn't withdrawal because I didn't stop anything suddenly.  However, now, today, after speaking to my doctor...he wants me off of Geodon completely and starting tomorrow night he wants me to take 200 mg. of Seroquel every night.  He said it's a very sedating drug so he wants me to take  it only at night and says it works all day.  Hopefully I won't go through any withdrawal effects of Geodon because they told me not to take it tonight and not to take it tomorrow ...so the only thing I'll be taking is my XANAX and my Seroquel.

Now, my question is...

I've read some of the posts on here about Seroquel but I did a "search" and figured I would just go ahead and ask.

Who on here has been taking Seroquel and although I know that everyone reacts differently, what is/was your opinion of taking Seroquel?

I'm only asking because I want to get the good and the bad comments...but it's not because I'm not going to take the Seroquel.  I know that everyone goes through something different.  Some has side effects, some don't. I know that Cathy had side effects with her arms and legs on Seroquel, but was that the only medication you were taking? Or were you on other meds as well with Seroquel?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hugs to all

Hi Chelbie, I was only on Seroquel at the time, and had just come off Risperdal. The only other thing I was taking was oral contraceptives but had been on those for 2 1/2 years. After the Seroquel I started Abilify. I hope the Seroquel works well for you.

Afro  200 mg seroquel is what I am prescribed for sleep--but I can take less if I want to, so generally take 100 mg--drug seems to get me to sleep but is kind of nasty--difficult to describe, but has that "fuzzy throbbing" effect all anti-psychotics have--

Clayton,
I never knew quite how to describe that feeling that I get from most of the AP drugs but hit it on the head with "fuzzy throbbing".  Chelbie, my daughter takes seroquel and it works great for her.  She is not sedated at all during the day but does sleep well at night.  My son has taken it when his mood is not stable and it worked for him as well.  I would just recommend that you watch your blood sugar level because in a small number of people it can cause diabetes.  Hope it works well for you.  Sorry about the med problems.

Seroquel takes alot of getting used to, but it is an effective med for me. I'm not taking it anymore bc I was switched to geodon bc of my irritability. Seroquel will make you very hungry at first, but it subsided for me after about a month of taking it. The geodon has really decreased my appetite. Seroquel will sedate you for a while, and it increased my irritability it seemed, so maybe it will work for you. You know, it all depends on you and how you react.
