Well, I don't know about anyone else that was on Geodon and went off of it, but I'm going through some nasty withdrawal effects. Turns out that even though the doctors say that you can quit "cold turkey" with this drug, you still go through side effects 24-48 hours after you stop taking it.
My doctor took me off of Geodon yesterday and told me that he was going to put me on Seroquel. Well, I ended up not going on Seroquel, but they were going to put me on Cymbalta, except my insurance doesn't cover it...so now...here it is...another day without Geodon and they STILL don't have me on anything new. They said that they had to wait until the doctor comes in tomorrow (Thursday) at 7:30 a.m. He's only in on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So, now I have been without 2 doses of Geodon already and working on the 3rd. If it weren't for the fact that I still have my XANAX I probably would be in the ER by now. I called the pharmacist and she said that even though it's very rare to go through withdrawal on Geodon (which Rare is my middle name I swear) that it IS somewhat possible and that everything I described to her (the nausea, diarrhea, shakiness, hot and cold sweats, headache) sounds like it is a withdrawal. I asked her if I was going to die from it...(that's how scared I am of dying) that she said no that it would just be something that I would need to deal with until it was out of my system, which supposedly would be sometime tomorrow. I'm hoping she is right because right now, I'm feeling like I've got the flu and it all came on today, more than 24 hours after my last dose of Geodon.
I sure hope that I'm able to sleep tonight because if I have to go through this all night without sleeping, I don't know what I'll do. That's why I'm glad I have my XANAX....hopefully a 3rd dose of XANAX will help me sleep tonight. I just want to sleep this feeling away

Hugs,
Chelbie
