I went to the pdoc today and found out that I will more than likely not qualify for medication assistance because I have part D medicare.  The problem is that my part D charges me an arm and a leg for one of my meds.  They want over two hundred dollars for the Abilify.  I did find out that  my insurance will cover Zyprexa for thirty five dollars a month.  I will probably have to switch to it next month.  My pdoc and I talked about it today.  I am not very excited about changing meds.

Don't be afraid of changing meds....I did and the change was for the best, I feel really good . The most expensive drugs are not always the best. Be strong, you can do this.

well I found out that I do not qualify for the med assistance program and now my drug plan doesn't want to cover my Lexapro.  I think I will just go off  my meds and forget about the worry.  It isn't worth the worry.

12 years on Lithium has me wondering why? My thyroid is suffering & I really don not get much relief. Find myself depressed quite often but unable to use anti depressants. Issue of My DR's is i have Diabetes.

I too wonder if my time to get clean, seek alternative help --- make the change,

Hi Francis,

It's good to have you on the site.  My wife, Paz, has a hypothyroid due to lithium that she needs to treat as well.

I'm sorry to hear your medicare part D is giving you fits about medications.. have you asked the doctor for samples?  Abilify is so expensive.. i used to pay over $70 for 10 pills... and that was 5 years or so ago... i didn't have insurance.  Most of the time, my pdoc could manage samples for me, but when he couldn't, it was sooo expensive.

Hope things work out for you...I'm sure changing meds is a worry for you.   ~~carolynn

lamictal used to work very well for my depression, I was on 300 mg and I had no side effects at all  but it stopped working for me after about a year.

I take 400mg Lamictal and I don't know what the hell it does. Pdoc said it was for mood stability. Oh yeah, thanks for the damn hypothyroid crap. I take 900mg of Lithium and now I'll be positive that I have hypothyroid every single time I get to feeling bad. Exactly what are the symptoms, just so I know when to start complaining.

I don't really know what lamictal does either, but I think  its more for depression and I have gone up to 400 mg now but you can't take a higher dosage than that and you should never suddenly stop taking it because its dangerous and you could have a fit

Lamictal is an anti-convulsant. Used in small doses it is used as a mood stabelizer.
