I'm a thinker too.. I totally dissect things until they become a mess in my mind. I'm getting better though. I think it's the meds that has helped me stop thinking things to death.

I'm definitely an over-thinker. I put myself through hell with it honestly.

Deep thinking is a understatement, for myself. In being animated...I rival Robin Williams. Family & friends accuse me over "over thinking" things...but admit they are marveled about it. I'm the life of the party...first one there...the last to leave. In 14th century Europe...the circle of the aristocrats & upper class...would seek out BP"s for their social events. These creative, spontaneous, deep thinking BP's where revered because of these unique traits & talents...Joe Buck (Bob)

Trivikram Swami told me "its best to ignore the mind". I just do survival thinking--don't ponder very much---mostly over a pint of Liberty Ale--then I can ponder.

it isnt actually over thinking.....it is using our brain for what it is there for.....to think...not just take face value on everything around us and what is said to us.......humans are curious creatures and we are meant to question and question again until it can make sens in our own mind so that then we can say we have learnt.

I agree with Nicki. I have lots of friends and even family members who just act upon their first thoughts and don't consider the consequences of their decisions. I think that we are smart to deeply think about some things and plan upon our thoughts and decisions. I don't want to be dumb about my decisions and affect things in my life in a negative way, but there are small decisions that I do wish I could stop overthinking. I'm going through decorating for Christmas right now. We are the Griswalds in some ways with our decorating and I wish that I could just let some of it go and quit trying to be so creative and perfect about how things look. That's the kind of decisions, the ones that really don't have to be done because they are petty that I wish I could stop overthinking about. Also, I overthink the small stuff in other situations in out life and it makes me miserable.

I just pick things apart. I pick people apart too. I try to understand everyone right when I meet them. I guess thats why I dont like a lot of people. but on the other hand I respect more people because If i think about their situation and put myself In their shoes. then I understand them more. I also bring things out of reality a lot. I have a lot of what ifs. I think of pretty much everything that could happen in every situation.
