Nicotine is a poison--they use it as an insecticide. Ome gets quickly addicted to having some poison every day--question is, why are we paying $40 a box for insecticide? Just sniff Black Flag!

I had a book called Quit Smoking in Three Days, which was about self-hypnosis and making a tape to hypnotize youorself with. Didnt work for me, but you  might give it a try! The author made an interesting observation: :smoking is like a doomed romance.

Personally I quit cold turkey once and I will never.never do that again--its just too hard. Currently I dont smoke but I use Grizzly, which is the cheap version of Skoal "a pinch between your gum and lip", and is a fraction of the cost of gum, besides which you get that tobacco flavour which we addicts like so much.

If anyone is interested in self-hypnosis, for any reason, I would recommend the Silva Method: http://www.amazon.com/Silva-Mind-Control-Method/dp/0671739891/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204170199&sr=8-1

Part meditation, part hypnosis, and easy to learn. It's helpful when you need to quiet your mind.
