I gave you 6 hours, but I dont know enough to estimate whether you can go all the way. they say nicotine is a worse addiction than heroin, and that is because with heroin withdrawal, three weeks and you're done---nicotine withdrawal is only beginnning.
Good luck with it!

I just found four peices of gum in my travel purse and I am one happy camper. And I had made it so long. But that is some good gum. If I had any strength of character I would have thrown it in the trash--but since I was looking for it when I found it--well, I  am chewing a piece right now.

It beats the hell out of smoking, you don't do you? I have been working on not smoking for months now with very little results. I would love to be addicted to the gum rather then the smoke. Fred

well, just start substituting the gum for cigarettes and eventually you, too, can be addicted to gum. I am feeling so much more clear-headed and able to do stuff now that my nicotine receptors are not yelling. I was just lying around all morning, suffering. Now I get to go through it again when I run out of gum again.

Well, I think I will go by Walgreen's tomorrow and buy some gum. Sigh. Such a failure. God, I love nicotine.

One thing I forgot to tell you==while I was in Walgreen's stressing over buying gum, this woman comes up to me and tells me this loong story about how she just quit smoking---cold turkey!--never had a problem with it. SHE didn't need gum or candy or losenges, she just put the  cigarettes down and never smoked again. I just said entusiastically "Good for you" and walked away very fast, before I said what I wanted to.

I've never had to quit heroin, but I've heard this also. Even after months of no nicotine, the cravings can still be as strong as the day you quit.

I think I read somewhere that nicotine hits the brain quicker than heroin, too.

I'm a smoker and I hate and love it all at the same time!. You have done well Jane! I couldn't live on gum. I need a smoke.
