Today I woke up with hives or a rash all over my chest and back. They don't itch, but they are warm. I say it might be hives because they are raised bumps, but since they don't itch I'm calling it a rash. LOL

Anyway... nothing new in my diet and no new detergents or soaps have been used. I was wondering if maybe this rash has been caused by my Lamictal? I am not going to take it today and see what happens. But I was wondering if it is possible to have an adverse reaction to a med that you have been taking for so long? I've been on it since I was diagnosed so a good 3 years if not more.

I did take some Benadryl, but it doesn't seem to be working.  Undecided

i cant see why you cant have an adverse reaction to something you have been taking for some time.....you can use the same washing powder for years and then develope an irritation to it so why not lamicital......maybe it has built up over the years and is coming out now.
i would get it checked out though just to be sure

So, I finally figured out what my hives/rash are from! My son! William's nurse at school called and wanted us to come pick him up because he had a rash on his face. The rash is called Fifth's Disease.
Apparently it is contagious prior to the rash appearing. William had the rash on his face Friday or Saturday and Saturday I woke up with a rash all over my face, neck and torso. There is no treatment for this disease, it is a mild infection from the Parvovirus B-19 (not the kind from dogs). Apparently it can last between 2 and 3 weeks. The nurse doesn't want him to come back to school tomorrow if he still has the rash, because she is under the impression that this is still contagious once you have the rash. Brian did research on it and is going to talk to the nurse when he goes to pick William up. We are definitely not going to keep him out for 3 weeks of school!

I'm glad to know it is none of my meds. I just hope the baby doesn't get it.

glad it's not the meds...gave you quite a scare I'm sure since the rash that Lamictal can give you could be deadly

I'm not sure id there is a rash related reaction with Depekote. You might wanna do some research on it via google. And then talk to you doc if it is.

Depakote sounds like it's been a nightmare for you from the start, Nicki. When do you see your pdoc?
