im on 600mg of lithium also and abilify......depakote didnt work for me had too many horrible side effects so i was taken off of it...i think after the host odf other stuff i was on they finally bit the bullet and agreed ok lithium is best, just costs them more money.
i am convinced that half the stuff we get given is because of costs and the fact that pharmacutical companies must have speciel deals with some of their drugs so they get pushed into use more.
sorry that didnt really answer the question did it

I hope those meds are working for you. I have been on Lithium and it worked but after a blood test my counts were way to high so they took me off it.
I'm Bipolar 1-rapid cycling and mixed states plus PTSD.

Just a quick list of my meds- these include those I have taken and those which I am taking- Seroquel, xanax, valium, lithium, depakote, risperdal, lamictal, zoloft, abilify and a few more I can't remember right now.

The pdoc kept buiding on the amt of lithium to get me to theraputic levels. It took some time in hospital...then right before I got out they put me on Depakote...I was on a slug of meds before...not sure which one was hepling or harming so I went off and my pdoc asked me to comply with treatment this time. I just dont want to be on multiple meds. Now Im scared that too much of one med maybe bad(side effects)

sometimes a lot of one med and a combo of other meds (or not) needs to be used in order to "kick start" the process. Eventually the meds start to be reduced. I remember I was on some heavy dosages and then gradually the meds started to be decreased. But what happened with me is that my meds were decreased due to my pregnancy... I doubt that would be the case for you though... LOL

If I got pregnant...the pdoc would have to stand in line just for the chance I would pick him, so his career would flourish... my medical questions would have some answers. I think most of all...the large amount of money thrown my way for book deals etc wouldn't change my illness it would just soften it a bit lol

Nicki is so right and it's sad. I took Lithium before but don't remember the dosage. I had to discontinue it due to the increase in frequency and intensity of seizures. As soon as the med was discontinued, seizures ceased.

Ok I moved across the country and Im setting up with a new doc. This regiment of meds is killing me. I am within normal range for the lithium and the depakote...or thats what they say...when my organs begin to shut down.. we will know if they are right.
