I  had no idea that there was a salt compond (fumurate) in seroquel! I was doing a little research on seroquel for another message board I frequent on Facebook and found this information here: http://www.rxlist.com/seroquel-drug.htm
After all the research I have done myself, I have never run across this information. Perhaps I overlooked it. But, yeah. Do other antipsychotics also have a salt compound to them?

Lithium is a salt compound. That's the only other one I know about.

I think a persons predisposition for being over weight also has something to do with one gaining weight on meds. For example me... I come from a family of large German women. I had difficulty controlling my weight before the pills but was happy with my size. Introduce weight gaining meds to that equation and you have disaster. I know quite a few people who are on weight gaining meds, but haven't gained an ounce.

Since I have been taking lithium I have been bloated.  I think I have figured out why.  Normally I didn't drink tons of water when I ate.  With lithium I do and doing that dilutes your stomach acid.  Your food isn't as digested when it passes into your intestines and it sits there and ferments.  Seriously, I read that.  So theoretically, if you don't drink anything at least 15 minutes before you eat and about 30 minutes afterwords (hard to do on lithium haha) and that should solve the problem.  I started doing that yesterday and I can tell you I'm not as bloated as I was so maybe its working!  There are also tablets and things that help with that but I don't know anything about them.  You know most (or all?) indigestion is ironically caused by weak stomach acid not too much.  Stronger acid breaks the stuff down like it should, weak acid doesn't.  Also, if you cut out gluten from your diet, it may help as well.  A while back I always had bloating all the time...I got constipated (sorry for that information).  When I cut out grains and dairy (gluten and casein) the problem completely disappeared, my belly stayed flat...until the lithium. LOL
