Anyone go through cognative therapy? Did it help you or hinder you?

I went through cog. for about a year I think. It wasn't very long. It helped a bit but it wasn't my saviour.
I remember one session my therapist thought I was faking my life. He thought everything I was talking about in my session all came from a movie. Pffffffft.

I have not had this type of therapy before.
I am a psych student and I will be taking Cognitive Behavior Therapy next term, starting at the end on Jan. I will let you know what I think of it once I get started.

I read a description of cognative behavioral therapy on the Nami boards quite a while ago. I am not a fan of behavioral anything---in my experience behavioral therapists tend to be pushy and ignore your feelings (the "black box" idea). Dr.Phil is a behaviorist, for example. I benefitted most from integral therapy, which springs from Aurobindo's writings. According to my pdoc, I am doing fine on drugs and don't need any therapy---fine by me!
