I found it difficult to answer also.  It is in my family and my childhood was full of trauma.

I swear (and my mom swears) I was born with it...but my life was full of emotional and physical abuse too.

Yeah I guess it was a pretty hard poll to answer because I think they all play a factor too. I was just interested to see if anyone thought anything other than genes was more of a factor...it is often suggested that the pace at which capitalist societies run and the associated societal problems mean that bipolar emerges as more of a 'problem'.
