Has anyone tried Lunesta for sleep? I tried it in the past and it didn't work. So when I saw y new doc he asked me to try it again claiming that the last time I was on too low a dose and that I should try the highest dose (3mg). So the first night I actually slept a little. Still tosses and turned but felt more rested than usual in the morning. Second night I didn't sleep at all. Has anyone else used this? what were your results?

I was on 3mg of Lunesta for awhile... If I remember correctly, it took a few days for it to "kick in". As with all my sleep meds, it worked for awhile. It gave me a nasty taste in my mouth that I could not get rid of (that is one of the side affects of the med). Stopped taking it after 3 months and then went on to a new sleep med, I think next was Rozerem.

But, you have to remember that I practically need elephant tranquilizers to get me to sleep and keep me asleep. And, as with all meds, what works for one may not work for another. But... that's my experience with Lunesta.

I'm starting to think that nothing will keep me asleep! I actually just tried Rozerem last which of course didn't work. I''ve tried just taking clonazepam to control the anxiety, trazadone and I'm not sure what else. I haven't tried ambien yet cause I'm afraid of the sleep walking type side effects. And yes OH MY GOD the metallic taste from the Lunesta is aweful! it doesn't even go away during the day! Not sure if I can tolerate that long term. I'll give it a few more days though. I agreed to try it for ten days. We'll see what happens. Hope I can get a few winks over the next few days cause working is pretty hard when I haven't slept in days.

Ambien didn't do squat for me. I think I'm gonna ask about trazadone when I go in next. Right now I'm on Remeron. Old School sleep med. Not very strong. I'm on 30mg (the highest dosage) and she said if it didn't work to take 2 pills instead of 1, but, I'm afraid of overdosing! 60mg of sleeping pill? I'm just afraid to try it.

Did you all know that newer sleep meds, Ambien, Lunesta, etc...are classified as Hypnotics. Now, I don't know much about chemistry, especially brain chemistry, but I do know that all those sleep meds you mentioned I tried, and they kept me more awake....but think about this.....the drug is a Hypnotic. They have tried Hypnosis on me and it doesn't work...maybe that's why the sleep meds didn't work? {lunesta and ambien for me}  Huh?

I've been thinking about this. I have thrown away more meds (that didn't work) than I can count. I know it's illegal to to transfer meds to another person but maybe we should be allowed to do a med swap you know like a cookie exchange  Cheesy I mean we've all apparently been running around the same circle so....

Not that i'm actually suggesting people swap meds...just made me laugh that we are all filling scripts and then likely throwing half of it away!

Don't they call some anesthetics hypnotics?

I believe that propofol[the anesthetic that they say killed Michael Jackson] is a straight Hypnotic, but not all anesthetics can be Hypnotics.
