So, I've been trying vitamin supplements to see if they will make me feel any better. so far I haven't really noticed too much of a difference. I have been taking vit. E, multivitamin, D, and just started DHA today. The lady at the healthfood store said the DHA should help with the depression I have been experiencing. we shall see.

My naturopath gave me things with tons of vitamin B complex, fiber, minerals and omega 3 from flax seed, and C.

Hey Phyllis, it takes weeks or months for vitamin supplements/fish oil to correct a deficiency.  You won't see any changes overnight.  I'm looking into a raw whole food vitamin and some krill oil.  Right now I'm taking B complex, C, D3, A, inositol, biotin, Carlson's fish oil, acacia fiber.   I think the vitamin D and A really helps with my immunity.  Something very interesting...I am very prone to respiratory infections/coughs this time of year esp...when I started smoking weed, back in 2002 I noticed I stopped getting them!  Never got one again until after I quit smoking weed.   I Shit You Not  Tell me there's nothing to it!  Dreamline, there is a really good whole raw food supplement that we take, it's called Raw One and they have a woman's and man's choices, that is what we take, it's really good. And it's a Vegan one.

I was just looking at that, funny you say it.  I was about to buy it until I read it contains manganese...something known to be neurotoxic and causes ADD symptoms among other things.   Other than that it looks perfect.  I have to go read up on the stuff about manganese again.  I found another really good one but it contains iodine...you're not supposed to take iodine while on lithium Sad

Screw it I'm buying the Raw One...I found an article about manganese and it was talking about the danger of excessive amounts on some of the water supplies in Canada, soy products, soy infant formulas...etc.  Raw One has 50% of the daily amount...hopefully it won't hurt.

Maybe I need some manganese...I crave some of those foods at times like pineapple, cloves, spinach and garbanzo beans.

I eat a lot of the foods on that list...especially Kale. I think that you only need to be concerned if it's like huge amounts....it occurs naturally in foods that are good for you. I feel really great on those supplements, been taking them for over a year now, and my Pdoc thinks it's great....she is a big believer in diet & exercise and mindfulness...I showed her the bottle and she said that they were a good product, and also told me to really keep up on mega doses of b complex and the omega 3 oil...we use the flaxseed kind, you can put it in salad dressing, we make a vinaigrette with olive oil, garlic, herbs, red wine vinegar, and DJ puts in the omega3 flaxseed oil in it as well....it tastes good that way, and we eat big raw salads 2x a day, every day.
We put tons of raw food in the salads...raw beets, jicama root, snow peas, celery root, beans, chard, etc. Pdoc says diet is really important for BP's
as is exercise and a routine. I have been feeling pretty good for awhile now, and I believe that all of these things are contributing to my health, physically & mentally.

That's awesome.  They should get here tomorrow I think.  I will still take Carlson's Fish Oil, Krill oil, extra vitamin D3 in winter, inositol and acacia.  I may get a whole food B vitamin I found to take with all that.  I have to be careful I can afford it and still feed myself and my dog.

I like romaine or baby lettuce salads with raw sweet peppers, celery, mushrooms, onions, herbs, and make my own oil and vinegar.  The fish oil I use tastes good and says it can be used on salads, never tried it though, always forget.  I make raw spinach smoothies...more spinach than anything, a whole bag in one glass no lie.  Those are really good if you want the recipe.  I love whole goat's milk kefir...I get it plain, no sugar added, nothing.  I drink raw kombucha too, it cures sinus infects and stuff I swear.  I won't drink a lot of it because it can cause you to get rid of lithium faster...and we know what that means.  I leave the inside part of my steaks raw w/ beef and lamb.  Slow cooking in a crock pot is also good for meats, denatures the protein less than other methods.  I also consume raw cocoa in my protein smoothies....or mix it in hot water with xylitol for sweetness and some cayenne pepper...like the Mayans did.

Its amazing how most doctors of any kind treat just the symptoms and the the whole picture.  Most people have such a distorted view of health.  What they think is healthy is not.  People forget our bodies are in fact wired up to run perfectly...but when our bodies get the incorrect fuel, they run like shit...its like putting diesel in your gas tank and oil in the radiator.

I think once I got stabilized on 1500mg, I have been able to incorporate healthy eating and working out CONSTANTLY.  So now, I feel so goods because of those changes, the lithium just made it possible to do it.
