I have been medicating for about 6 or 7 years. Doesn't seem that long though.

so does your tolerence to the meds keep getting higher or does it settle when you reach a certain point? and what about lithium? i've read that it is one of only 2 drugs intended just for bipolar disorder but my doctor has never mentioned it.

It took awhile to get on an even keel if that is what you are asking. I still have problems with getting my sleeping pills adjusted. I seem to have to change them every 6 to 9 months. I'm getting ready to go to the doc on Friday to see if we can go back to Lunesta (even though I hate the taste it leaves in my mouth) and maybe get off of my seroquel.

I have never been on lithium. My doc didn't put me on it because you have to get lab work done all the time and she didn't feel I was severe enough to get put on it. Some people have had good results on it, others it has made them really sick. It just depends on the person. I do understand though that it takes awhile to get the right level in your system. Just like any other drug I suppose.

If you are interested in going on lithium, ask your doc about it. They will probably tell you why they didn't offer it up. Or maybe they just assumed you wouldn't be interested in it. Never can tell with the docs these days.
