I am verry depressed and not functioning at all. Doing anything scares me and thus I postpone vital daily activities - seem to have been doing so all my life... Now I am 29 and facing life on my own for the first time and I don't think I can do it. I have never been able to learn properly because I have been in panic or dissociative state most of the time when action of any sort was required, thus I don't seem to be able to retain, no matter how many times i do it... Feels very scary... I feel like a four year old having to cope with an adult's responsibilities... To make things worse I am unabile to socialize and keep long term relationships. So... this business of living is a perpetual suffering. I am very desperate and feel like my only hope for help is to find a healthy rich family to help me live somewhat normal life and help me get rehabilitated. Does anybody else have such wishes and have you had any success in finding support of such sort?

I'm afraid your idea of finding a rich family to take care of you is not very practical. You will just have to learn to be independent by taking baby steps. Take your meds, and do one thing at a time. You can do it, ask us anything you want.

Hello,
Welcome, I have never really thought about finding a rich family to take care of me, but now that you mention it, not a bad idea. In another way I suppose that I have found such a place in this board, where people listen and care for each other. I hope that you find what I have found on this board.

If you're "unable to socialize" your chances of charming a rich family into "helping" you are not very good, and if you cant keep "long term relationships" your chances of keeping such a relationship if you found it are not very good. I do not think you should consider striking up such a relationship your "only hope". I know a millionaire or two, but they are not interested in taking in strays or giving me money for my good looks. This is a country of many social agencies--there is a great deal of practical help out there--in countries like Mexico or India it is sink or swim--there is a safety net here but you still have to exert yourself  to fill out forms, go to appointments, and so forth. There is no free lunch!
