I'm an old biddy that's lived with my sometimes delightful mood disorder my entire life. Today is a good day, all chipper, but not hypomanic.
I can't always find time to visit the site, so I want to encourage anyone in the community that reads this (especially young people): don't be ashamed of who you are and what you live with. I've gotten myself into a lot of stupid drama over the years due to my symptoms, and it took me a long time to grow up! But... there are a lot of positive elements to being bipolar that are worth embracing and channeling. If you have a creative side, USE IT! One of my best friends is a guitar player who sometimes cannot leave the house due to his anxiety. He uses that time to practice, and he is MUY FABULOSO. Same with my potter friend. Also, my painter friend.
What do you like to do? Cook, read, write, crochet, sew, draw, build models out of toothpicks, garden? Doing something positive (even if it is hard to motivate) when your symptoms are painful builds self esteem and soothes the ache profoundly. I'm a mom, and I want everyone to know that you are awesome, you have so much to offer the world and that it's never too late to start anything. Love yourself.
Okay, maybe a little hypomanic
