Ok, I can speak from the Lithium front, for me it works rather well, it sort of presents itself in ideal terms as a glass ceiling that prevents me hitting true mania. Yes it doesn't always work but for the most part its keeping me on planet earth. As for my anti-psychotics, well as many of you know I take Olanzipine (Zyprexa) and without it I'd be in orbit. I'm one of those people who literally can not afford to miss a day of using it, which sucks as I'm painfully aware of its side effects long term. Sadly I would love to be like many of you here, able to say 'ok, I'm cutting it back, use herbal remedies and see where we go'. Sadly for me the last time I cut back I threw my dining table across the room because I thought there was an evil spirit in the wood (and that's the milder side of my psychosis).
I'm glad to see a post like this though as I do believe so often we are given drugs in a sort of 'hit and miss' capacity. I look back and see how many different combinations I took while they spent time literally trying to figure out why I was acting in such a way. This one I think most will know, anti depressants given to bipolar 1, let the show begin! That was a rather interesting time in my life I must say.

I really appreciate this information. I am now weening myself off of Seroquel thanks to this information. I hope my doc can give me something else.
