I've noticed that for the past 2 months I've been extremely irritated at everything, even things I should be happy about. But in addition to that something new has been happening, and the only way I can think of describing it is sensory overload. Everything just feels 'too much'. I don't like being touched, noise that isn't very quiet (Even speaking bothers me) or movement. I just sort of want to curl up into a ball and hope everything goes still and quiet.

Now I've never liked loud noises but this seems just a bit extreme to me, I was wondering if anyone goes through the same thing and is it just another symptom of being bipolar?

Does anything help you when you get like that? I feel bad/guilty telling my boyfriend not to hug me or when I snap at him for moving too much.  Undecided It's driving me crazy! lol

Honestly, no.  Sad It's just one of those things.... People know to just leave me alone. I mean from time to time I might try some Ativan, but only if it is way out of control and I feel like I am going to lose it. Do I feel bad? Hell yeah I do. I just have to catch myself, and that is difficult to do. I find myself being more like this since I am off meds. I don't even realize I am being this way. I apologize and it's all good. But it is still unfair to not only those around me, but to me too.

Oh Boy, I know that feeling...EVERYTHING is irritating! And I hate to be touched when I get like that.

I find that when I feel like that, I HAVE to retreat...I go for a walk, or I hide in the Den, curled up under a blanket. The feeling goes away, eventually.

Sometimes a good workout or a strenuous Hike helps, just doing something alone is helpful to me when I feel that way.

Yeah I always feel like my condition isn't fair to others especially when I get bad like that.

Thanks I'll definitely try walking or cleaning, something to get moving. Smiley Just wish I could stop it before it gets too bad. It also seems to happen mostly at night.

Yup, I have the same problem. Unfortunately my husband seems to take the brunt of all that irritability.

Yeah I have to just get away...I can't stand it when people get in my space, just hearing them talk drives me nuts...just walking by someone on the side walk annoys me.  Its definitely more a mood thing but I'm sensitive and get overstimulated even now.  I need regular time in nature and with my dog to cope and keep from having mood swings.

Glad to know I'm not the only one anyways. Smiley

Pets definitely help me too Dreamline, and they're great listeners.  Grin I have a little dog and err... 5 cats. I'm not a crazy cat lady I swear! lol All of them were rescued usually from being abandoned outside during the winter. I don't know what cruel person could just throw an animal away like that. Sad

:-(  My dog was emaciated and kept crated by his previous owner.  I don't get it either.

out at me and i spend time actually screaming in terror... it is very hard to go out in public... when i get this paranoid-ptsd-manic...

Trying to get a diagnosis. :/ The first psychiatrist I saw said over the phone bipolar, but didn't write it down as an official diagnosis. Sooo now my case worker is making me see another because she thinks I am and anti depressants aren't working on me.
