A horrible accident happened yesterday a few blocks from my house. Someone was digging in a yard repairing a waterline and hit a gas line and the house exploded. ( http://www.whiotv.com/news/news/breaking-news/reported-house-explosion-fairborn/nFcGX/) We actually heard and felt the explosion here at my house. The incident happened across the street and seven houses down from my daughter's new residence. Her boyfriend was still in shock last night. I'm not going to go into details here, I will leave it to you to click on the news link to read the article to get all of the details and see images (none are graphic, but still shocking). The thing that kills me the most is that there will children involved and knowing that they are now forever traumatized. There is still one person missing. They brought cadaver dogs in last night to search the area. It was a very sad day here in town yesterday. It really does make you thankful for your life and your loved ones.  Cry

I didn't know anyone involved, but my heart is still very heavy.

OMG, that is terrible! And how scary to feel a big explosion like that. My nerves would be shot......did you need an Ativan?

Just wondering......Aren't there any marks on the street or in a person's yard where the gaslines are?! Here there are markings on the curb and in the yard where the gasline runs so nobody cuts or digs up the line by mistake.

I hope that the family will be alright.

you are supposed to call the gas company before you dig so they can mark the lines. i dunno if the contractors did that or not.   Sad
