It's 3am and I'm still awake. :/ I wake up feeling fine in the morning, and just progressively get worse as the day goes on. I'll get more irritable and by the time night comes around I'm dreading it. I feel anxious and angry. I guess I resent sleep/night time? I can sleep fine during the day though. And no matter how many hours of sleep I get a night I still feel that way when night comes again. Is this normal for bp or am I just weird? lol

you don't hate sleep, you brain/bipolar have no use for it... the sad part is your brain and body desperately need it despite the fact you think you don't... this will only exacerbate your problems... that's why some so called depressives w/ psychosis, bipolars and schizoaffectives experience breaks because the brain needs REM sleep and it doesn't get it... REM occurs late in the sleep cycle... some people can get six hours of sleep and never enter REM... they'll go on to develop some form of anxiety, find it more difficult to cope at work and school(memory/comprehension/attention), nervousness, depression, i could go on and on... and it directly effects the body... and these issues could eventually develop into a so called classical mental illness in some... before i started developing classic symptoms i was getting between 4-6 hours os sleep each night and over the long haul it caught up to me and bit me hard in the ass...  smoking 3

are you hypomanic?

I am not hypomanic or depressed at this time and I can only sleep for 1 hour to an hour and a half before waking for about 20 mins then going back to sleep just to start the cycle again.

well ashes... that's just the nature of some of these meds... but the doctors solution is to prescribe sleeping agents... when i was in your situation, not manic, just being unable to sleep all together the sleeping meds i was on were ineffective... my doctor put me on a very high dose of trazadone, and that didn't do squat... one of my sisters is a nurse and she suggested i try using benadryl, i had to use three tablets but it worked like a charm, i was getting 5-6 hours of sleep each night... if i missed a dose i couldn't sleep... you being pregnant though i would talk to your doctor before you try it... hope this helps...  smoking 3

Yeah that seems more like it Kensho. I just feel like  have more important things to be doing than sleeping. Even if all I do is play on the computer all day. Tongue Even when I can sleep at night I wake up every 2 or 3 hours. I can almost time it. I sleep better through the day from around 6am to 3 or 4pm. I just feel a lot more relaxed and can sleep then. Plus I have to wait another 10 days or so for my new oxazepam prescription so I'll be kinda crazy till then with withdrawal. lol

Right now yeah, but even when I'm not I still have a hard time sleeping. I've been like this since around 4 or 5 years old. My mom would have to sleep on the floor in front of the couch with me on the couch so I wouldn't wander off at night. Also had night terrors and would sleep walk.

I know how that feels Ashes. Smiley

wait... are you talking to Ashes about the pregnant thing? Cause I'm only 17 and I'm pretty damn sure I'm not pregnant. XD Though I do take 2 bendryl and 2 gravol in addition to my medication and it helps me sleep. Smiley

I personally have always had issues with sleep. It doesn't matter if I'm depressed or manic, I still can't sleep. My brain just won't shut up. I do usually get some sleep most nights but it's usually fairly restless-- I toss and turn, get up to pee frequently, and normally drift in and out of sleep. I think something that causes so many sleep issues in our society is also the amount of stimulation we are getting (here I sit at the computer at 12:20 am for example), these things really interfere with our brain and being able to shut off for bedtime. I am not sure if that is something you have considered? That being said, I still have many nights that I can just lay there for hours on end and still not sleep with no electronics, no computer, TV... etc. On average, I say I get about 4-6 hours a night and that's with a lot of waking periods in between. Like Kensho, the worst part is, it tends to exacerbate problems even more. Our bodies need sleep and we aren't giving it to them.

Yeah, I'm pretty much the same as you, I don't know how I don't manage to wake my boyfriend up with how much I move at night. lol

Well, in my room I usually sleep with the tv on, volume on low, and these purple christmas lights around my one window. Sleeping in the pitch dark just fuels my paranoia/delusions. I always feel like something or someone is watching me, I won't face my back to the room when I sleep, has to be against the wall. I'm a nutcase I know. XD But I sort of have a routine worked out that just sort of makes it feel like bedtime. Every night around 8 to 10 I'll watch a movie or lets play with my boyfriend, and then go to bed. I'm kind of hoping my mind will just start to wind down when we do that and it'll help me relax and sleep. Though I agree that if there's lots of electronics on it can definitely make it harder to sleep. I'm also worried about my condition getting worse because of it like you said.

We'd give our bodies sleep if they'd just freaking cooperate!  finger lol  Grin
