Hello Everyone!!! I just signed up for this site and have been enjoying reading the posts. Great community and what a fantastic way to connect with other people dealing with similar issues. I have bipolar 1 and am rapid cycling. I also have schizophrenia... I take it all in stride and tend to be optimistic. Salutations - Jo

Hey Jo!!! I am so glad that you decided to join the site!!! I was wondering where you have been, and if you had your wedding yet? I am at the airport right now waiting for my connecting flight and I am happy to see so much activity here! I am going to be pretty busy over the next couple of days, but I will be checking in. I am so stoked you are here!

Hello Everyone, Thanks for the warm greetings... I am stoked to be here as well Paz!!! Since my last YT video a lot has happened. Drey came back from touring Korea and a lot of changes have been going on... We haven't had the wedding - yet. Its not scheduled until August 2012. She decided to make a career change recently which we both are totally enjoying cause we have been spending a lot of time together which is totally different than when she was working 10-12 hour days. She was a ballerina in a professional company, one of the top 5 companies in the nation. So needless to say it has been a big change for her but one that is very welcome. She is going to college next fall to specialize in Nutrition. I'm so happy for her I think this will be a really positive new direction for her to take in life. Dancing was her passion but being a professional dancer involves more stress than one can imagine. She will miss the stage lights and costumes but is looking towards a new path. I have been struggling with my health. The end of September I almost had a heart attack. Literally. My blood pressure has been high for months, I had to stop working due to doctors orders in September. One morning I woke up and my blood pressure was in the 180's and had all the signs of a heart attack. It's unclear still what caused my heart to almost explode but I have been going through a battery of test over the last couple of months trying to figure out whats wrong. Fortunately my heart is fine. That doesn't seem to be the issue although it was a symptom. Currently I'm being tested for Cushing's Disease. Which if the tests next week are positive I will have a CT scan of my brain. If I have Cushing's it means there is a tumor on my pituitary gland... Which means brain surgery. I have been on bed rest and hope that soon the doctors will discover what is wrong with me... I am seriously tired of feeling so sick and having no real idea what is wrong. I almost hope I have Cushing's cause I'm sick of being sick and just want to resolution. I have gained 20lbs in two months. Totally Sucks!!! I've gained 85lbs in a year and a half and eat a well balanced diet. Uhg... I feel terrible all the time. I've been to Naturopaths, M.D., and endocrinologists and no one really knows what the hell is going on with my body. I'm so frustrated at the medical system I could scream... One the upside. I took my last dose of Abilify in September and have been med free since. It took a year to ween off the meds safely and I can honestly say I feel stable. That's my news update... Peace - Jo

i have no experience with saphris, my doctor wanted to put me on it but i flat out refused because of the already mounting evidence of reported side effects... a very large number of people were reporting irregular heart beats, sugar problems which will probably lead to diabetes later on, significant weight gain, head aches among many others... the company itself is a total mind fuck... i worked for schering plough for several years as a service engineer, they make saphris... they were violating so many fda guidelines the government case against them cost SP over one billion dollars to make the necessary repairs and they they received the largest fda fine in US history... my job was to try and straighten out critical heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems... primarily refrigeration though... the engineers i worked under were total dicks and incompetent in so many ways it was pathetic... i got sick and tired of one asswipe taking the credit for most of my hard work... i burned a bridge in my exit interview when i said to him "let's see what you accomplish now that i'll be gone"... i was fucking pissed and if the way they manufacture drugs is any indication on how good they are you'll probably die of poisoning.... You know, sir,
I worked for years at Glaxo in RPT, NC, and saw many scary things. However, I was making so much money and thought (so selfishly) these issues could never effect me, that I never said a word. Look where it got me.
From the bottom of a heart that is truly suffering, I thank you for your candor and wisdom. I will not go on that drug. If I can ever help you; please let me know. God's speed,
Christian

first off christian, please call me kensho... that's my name... i'm only 41, i don't look forward to the day people start calling me sir frequently... i might have to take my life at point... i didn't mean to scare you, it's just that i'm aware of the side effects of many meds through personal experience or reading the PDR... i was doing some reading today comparing bipolar w/ psychosis and schizoaffective disorder and wasn't surprised there wasn't really any real difference other then the fact that bipolars hallucinate/become psychotic during mood episodes where schizoaffectives can be psychotic/hallucinate anytime, mood state or not, which i already knew... two things that stood out though regarding bipolars is that 2 out of 5 bipolars will attempt suicide at least once in their life and 1 out of 5 will succeed on their first attempt... the other thing about bipolar is in the early 70's it was considered a relatively obscure illness comprising less then one half of one percent of the population even though recorded bipolar behavior dates back to like forever... today the illness makes up up to 7% of the US population depending on whose statistics you use... bipolar is also now the largest group out of all the psychotic disorders... i wonder how this happened, how an obscure illness became the number one psychotic illness in 40 years and go from less then one half of one percent to seven... it's almost as if bipolar were some contagious disease... the only only real thing that i can think of that changed during the last 50 years an increase in stress in our lives, pollution in our environments and the quality of our food dropped off a cliff... ohhh wait, i forgot the introduction of compact cars... my doctor said to me, "kensho, when people become ill some will develop cancer, some might develop multiple sclerosis and others will go onto develop mental illness"... what she was saying is that we're genetically predisposed to specific illnesses and once our bodies have been beaten to a certain point the illnesses manifests itself in big ways... i love my doctor with all my heart... she saved this pathetic creature that i am...
