This is a very interesting article about a group of psychologists who are concerned that there is going to be a push in the direction of a more medical, less holistic way of treating mental illnesses. Check it out!

very interesting article Paz... but it only skims the surface of the real problem with the DSM panel... in the two part video i posted in the general discussion area called: The Marketing of Madness: The Truth About Psychotropic Drugs, part of the documentary discusses how the DSM committee comes up with new mental illnesses... it's an absolute fucking joke!!! did you know that if the DSM committee isn't stopped "shyness" will now be a new form of mental illness... they've already made seasonal depression a mental illness... a significant number of psychiatrists on the DSM board have direct connections to pharmaceutical companies by either working for them directly at one point or doing so called "independent" research on particular psychotropic medications... it's absolutely criminal, i'm being serious now, they are so corrupt they should literally thrown in jail... regular allopathic medicine has major problems itself but high profile MD's are criticizing psychiatric medicine... evil mother fuckers... evil... they know exactly what these drugs are doing to us but they continue to move forward in the name of greater and greater profits... seroquel, a very powerful anti-psychotic was approved this year for anxiety... anxiety is a psychological condition... it's really all in the patients head... it's a self defense mechanism to any form of stress that troubles the individual... and they're prescribing powerful anti-psychotics...  Huh?  something is terribly wrong and i can only hope these 7000 signatures will put the brakes on this and expose this committee's intentions... if you ever have time, watch the documentary i posted then you'll have a better idea just how serious the problem really is...

Yeah the disorders are created or expanded to include normal people so they can make a market for the drugs!!  Manic-depressive disorder used to be just that, now we have bippolar2, cyclothymina and NOS...not saying none are valid but really?  Now people who are clearly not bipolar and being DX'd bipolar when they are having normal reactions to changes in their life.  So now what?  JFC an antipsychotic for anxiety?  What happned to xanax and ativan?  Yeah I agree with you guys on this...but you already knew that. I really do hope that they change it for the better...I mean come on grief is not depression...it can trigger it but its not.  Most people need therapy more than anything and those of us who do need meds also need health education...but that has to be as individual as we are...one size does not fit all.

last night my wife called me into the living room to watch a segment on 20/20... it was on the use of psychotropic drugs on foster care children... it totally blew my mind... well, not really because this information is in the 3 hour documentary i posted in this forum... 26% of the children in foster care are on in upwards of 13 psychiatric medications at one time... i was placed on seven plus medications to relieve the side effects from the psyche meds... infants are placed on some of these meds... in the documentary i posted the pharmaceutical companies "persuade" psychiatrists who work for state adoptive care services to begin prescribing anti-psychotics to children... foster care parents who resisted were warned the child would be removed from their care if they refused... in the 20/20 segment they interviewed some of the psychiatrists who  prescribed the meds, hiding their identity and all of those interviewed claimed they did nothing wrong... in the documentary they produce some evidence that kickbacks were received... these mother fuckers should be forced to remain on these meds for a year at the max doses they prescribed... and the FDA spokesperson was unable to address issues... the pharmaceuticals have way too much control over all government agencies, especially the FDA, whose job is to protect US, not insure profitability of BIG PHARMA... something has to be done... and i mean now! here's a segment of that 20/20 segment... i wish it were in it's entirety but something is better then nothing... i feel i have to put this out there...
