ran across this on Facebook tonight. Thought I'd share....

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/25/us/payments-to-doctors-by-pharmaceutical-companies-raise-issues-of-conflicts.html

I think perhaps it's time things change.... but, I know that is NOT going to happen any time soon.  hide

Yes, just like veterinarians get paid by pet food companies to sell their junkfood in their office.  Hill, Purina, Iams are some of the common...all of those are complete garbage.  They also won't tell you that the flea control works at lower doses and is safer that way.  Oh yeah, and interceptor work at 1/4 the dose for heartworms every 40 days not 30.  It is only needed at the high dose to kill intestinal worms.  In Europe it is marketed as such but here no.  Anyway I could go on and on but they're doing the same thing.

I was talking to Paz about antipsychotics, and they last long enough that you don't always have to take them every day.  They are not supposed to be taken after 2 weeks for bipolar disorder and how many people on this site are on them for maintenance.  Far as I know most are only FDA approved for Bipolar 1 mania and mixed not for hypomania...how many people with bipolar2 are on them?  Why on earth any doc would want to drug somebody at high doses with that shit for hypomania beats the shit out of me (as it is not that destructive, tis why its called HYPOmania)  That's what mood stabilizers, exercise and sleeping pills are for.  These drug companies are fucking criminal.  That's why we have to read labels and ask questions and strait up tell our docs we don't want that shit.   Bottom Whack

interesting article phyllis... the psychotropic med documentary i put up covers some of this... it's totally out of control, as long as i've been on meds it's been out of control... the level of corruption is literally on the criminal level, i'm not exaggerating either, seriously... the fda is run by ex pharmaceutical researchers or corporate officers... all but one have earned incomes from pharmaceuticals while working for the fda... like i said earlier in another thread, they could care less about us, as long as we don't die from their meds they're cool with it because they get to continue selling us these poisons... and when a pharmaceutical company says an antipsychotic shouldn't be used for more then two weeks by a bipolar, that's just to cover their ass and lay the responsibility in the lap of the prescribing physician who are more then willing to write long term scripts... antipsychotics as sleeping meds...  finger

i know it's long but watch that video!  Roll Eyes

I knew an older man who died suddenly after being put on seraquel (sp?) for sleep.  He was a crackhead and his doc prescribed it for sleep probably caused by the crack and this was after failing a drug test!
