Thursday I had a really bad episode, I could hardly talk to my case worker, who suggested to my mom that she take me to the hospital. After getting there and having to promise one of the nurses that if she left me alone in a room that I wouldn't trash it or hurt anyone/myself I finally got to see a doctor who gave me 0.5mg of risperidone. 2 days before I was taken to the hospital is when things got bad, I couldn't seem to handle even being conscious very well. Now after taking the risperidone I'm having dizzy head rushes and messing up words when I talk, mixing them up and stuff. Is this normal?

I just looked at the wiki for the side effects of risperidone and I now hate myself for it.  Bug Eyes

I don't know if that's normal,? but I'm sorry you're having such a tough time.
I had a really hard time this past summer .... in and out of the hospital.
I understand.  Be gentle with yourself.

I forgot to ask the question I posted this topic for in the first place, ugh... hate my brain lol  Was wondering if I can take more than one a day 0.5mg, if I'm having a really bad episode, like is it safe?

Also, thanks for your concern Ramji, I hope things get better for you too. Smiley

That didn't happen to me when I took it...it just slowed me down and calmed me both during a manic episode and a mixed one.  Did they think you are having a mixed episode?  If so, anti depressants can make it worse or even trigger it.  If not then its not supposed used for depression...I dunno maybe they thought it would help with the agitation you were having?

It's not being used for depression, it was given to me for really agitated/paranoid/delusional episodes. It's probably why they gave it to me. Really though, I'm still trying to get a diagnosis, so I'm just being passed around to every god damn psychiatrist in the area.  Undecided So far they're really considering Bipolar, possible autism, among other things. Have been diagnosed with Agoraphobia, GAD, and severe depression though they're working on getting it changed to bipolar. Not a lot of people where I live and most of the ones I see don't want to listen.

I know how you feel.  I went for an evaluation per my psychiatrist and ended up being admitted because of how I answered the questions.  It helped me sleep, but I could NOT take the dose during the day and still have not.  I stopped taking it all together as of now and have not noticed a difference.  Of course I am not saying to just stop it without talking with your dr. first, but I know what you mean on how you feel when you are on it.  It seems that the hospitals like to hand that out and I believe it's an old drug too.  Hope this helped you a bit.
