When I was 14 I decided to paint my room black and purple stripes, which I thought looked pretty neat. (Still do actually. lol) But since everything has sort of come out of remission or something, the colour of my room bothers me. When I'm in it I get depressed a lot easier, I have more panic attacks and mood swings, etc. While I still have those problems in the rest of my house I don't have them as often. So, does the color of your house affect your mood as well? If so, what colors do you find help your mood the best? I'm thinking about repainting my room for the sake of my sanity. lol

Purple is a spiritual color, crown chakra color.  Maybe it spaces you out too much?  Also people who have purple as a dominant color in their auras have a second color that balances it out...I think for purple its yellow.  Try adding some yellow accents...anything, a tapestry, stuffed animal, shirt..etc.  No painting needed.

Lighting makes a difference too, full spectrum lights are more like the sunlight we are supposed to get.  Those yellowish lights are great for evening but not midday.  I have a light that I bought from www.mercola.com and its great, no eye strain or anything and you can't really tell it from sunlight because it has the same spectrum of light.

black and greys are generally depressing colors. Like dreamline said, try throwing some yellow in your room and see if that makes it cheery? Bright colors (but not loud bright colors) usually lift the mood kinda like the weather.

I'll need to go out and get some yellow things then. Smiley It's a lot easier to get posters and stuff I guess cause I'm moving to Ottawa in a year or so. The lighting in my room is just a warm coloured lamp. If I don't have that on my room is pitch black. ( I have very thick curtains, I feel more comfortable at night in a sense.) Thanks for the suggestions guys.

i used to work in a building that had certain tinted colors in the bathrooms and i asked one of the higher ups in the company why the bathrooms were all like this and he told me that they were designed to make you uncomfortable so you spend less time in there when your at work
colors affect some alot more than others but i get bored with the same and constantly need changes in scenery so i have a large variety of different colored paintings out my hallway and into my room most of them i painted myself kinda trippy but it makes me smile and i can always find something that i believe looks peacful ...so id suggest to get an awesome picture that means something to you or if your feeling artsy try to make something beautiful
and sometimes changing things week by week with your creation can make a world of difference and can help you find a comfortable color

when i was growing up my rooms were purple and two shades of blue on separate occasions... when i was much younger and the choice was made for me it was a light beige... my room in the basement is stark white and it stimulates the hell out of me, even more so now but i'm sort of a minimalist now so it's working for me...white walls and a chartreuse(sp?) carpet... my wife loves to mix it up with colors... my sister who died when i was younger loved green and yellow of course because sunflowers were her thing... as far as the color of my house effect in my mood, i've never thought about it until now and i'd have to say no really... my wife picked the color when we did the renovation to it and i resided it myself with the help of a friend who did that type of work professionally... it's a dark colonial blue and it doesn't bum me out or stimulate me in any way... i love it when i see a pink house because that person is clearly making a statement... i love pink and screw U if u don't! fir them i'd imagine they enjoy their ride home from work as the drive down the block and spot their pink castle among he ruins...
