Among the most irritating of philosophies I have come across is the idea that amassing wealth is only a matter of having the right attitude--deciding to be rich. Were it as easy as that, there wouldnt be any poor people!  And is it even a desirable goal? In the short run, yes, but in the long run, you cant take it with you and there are more important kinds of riches to amass. The hog wanders here and there, "where is stool, where is stool," and the modern man similarly, "where is money, where is money"--its a hog's life.

In the Srimad Bhagavatam (5:5:1) we find this verse: "My dear sons, there is no reason to labor very hard for sense pleasure; such pleasures are available to the stool-eaters (hogs). Rather, you should undergo penances in this life by which your existence will be purified, and as a result you will be able to enjoy unlimited transcendental bliss."

looks like this was posted a long time ago Clayton, but I wanted to comment. I think that money is way overrated. People will do anything to get it even if it means turning themselves into hogs. Money matters way too much to people. Worldly things mean too much to people. My neighbor has the most beautiful log home. They are at the present time putting white vinyl siding and a tin roof on this home. It is only 3 years old. Can they not find any other way to throw away their money?
