EGD
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:50:11 PM »

So a few months ago I was looking through a medical dictionary and decided my new favorite word is esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD). That's a procedure where a scope is passed down through the esophagus past the stomach into the first part of the small intestine. So turns out now I need one of these! Kind of entertaining I think. I am having terrible reflux and now feel like there is a marble stuck in my throat. So basically they are going to look around and see if my esophagus is disintegrating! It's scheduled for the 13th and I'm very excited to see what they find. Has anyone else had this procedure?

Me neither.  If you wanted I could direct you to some real acid reflux info, not a drug add or add for tums or any "don't eat fried food" bullshit.

Dreamline- I would be interested in anything about now. I know I need to change my diet and lose some weight but that's easier said than done. I'm really just trying to find out what kind of damage already exists from 2 years of constant reflux. Im really hoping to avoid more meds and really don't want surgery. So anyway I'll hear any ideas

that would be great Dreamline! I have heart burn issues. I have been watching what I eat, I am so sad that I have to stay away from spicy food though.  Cry I don't take as much zantac as I once did, but it still is my best friend. I stay away from spicy stuff, caffeine (as much as I possibly can), red stuff (tomatos and tomato based stuff), and citrus. pretty much anything with acid in it.

Oh gosh that sucks, avoiding spicey food and tomatoes  Sad  OK guys, I have to go right now....but when I get back I'll post some stuff for you.  I used to have reflux myself.  I can now eat spicey food.  Anyhow, I'll be back.
