Still having a hard time handling my depression, I even feel too sad to sleep sometimes, if that makes any sense. But I noticed one thing that can help stop the random depressive episodes (when things are really bad, no idea what causes them) is getting into a cool room. Generally I feel better in the winter, any heat sparks more depressive episodes. After feeling bad for a while in the living room I went to my bedroom which is dark and cold I felt a bit better almost immediately. Any one else like this or know what causes it? My body must really hate heat.  WTF

Sometimes certain meds can make you sensitive to heat and/or sunlight......Lithium is one of them. What are you taking right now?

I'm taking clonazepam, effexor, and risperidone (sp?)  But it's been like this for a few years now, so I'm not sure if it's med related.

How is your thyroid? Have you had it checked lately? Thyroid problems can cause change in body temperature. Like if your thyroid is slow [hypothyroidism] you may feel cold all the time. I used to have a slow thyroid and I was always cold. Now I take iodine instead of synthroid, and my thyroid is back to normal. I haver been on iodine for 2 years now and it keeps my thyroid regular.

I wouldn't know, I've never had it checked. It's not so much that I feel too hot or too cold, just that warm environments make me feel very depressed/agitated, and it doesn't have to be too hot or anything, just comfortably warm does it too. :/ Do you think I bring the thyroid thing up with my doctor tomorrow?

Absolutely. If your thyroid is not functioning properly it can cause all kinds of problems......like mood swings. Thyroid was one of the first thing they checked when I was dx'd Bipolar 1. I was manic as hell, out of control, and had to be dragged to the hospital. They did all sorts of bloodwork [they checked for drugs, but didn't find anything LOL] and they wanted to make sure that my thyroid wasn't contributing to my manic mood swing. Lithium slowed down my thyroid, it was fine before I took Lith. Definitely have them check it.

Well there was talk about getting it tested but my doctor said it was unlikely because I wasn't old enough for it generally to mess up. But I'll bring it up again, thanks for the advice. Smiley I really hate needles though.. lol

I hate needles as well.......I look the other way & bite my finger hard. I hate getting my blood drawn, when I was first dx'd and taking Lithium they took my blood every fucking week for over 6 months! They wanted to make sure I was taking it. I was an outpatient at the Hospital for awhile.  Tongue  Not fun at all, I was ashamed that I had to be, I felt like such a weakling.

yeah, thyroids issues usually get noticed when you are older.... but still wouldn't hurt to get it checked, especially if anyone in the family has thryoid issues. I have an underactive thyroid. Dunno how bad it is now because I'm not on meds for anything at all and I need to go get my labs done again. But I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem in my 30's. My sister too. She has Grave's Disease. I think it skips generations because my gramma and my aunt also have thyroid problems but my mom is fine. I don't know about any of my uncles... but what ev....

Have you thought that perhaps your mind equates warm with being closed in, like claustrophobia? Maybe that is what the issue is. But instead of getting panicy you get depressed? I dunno, just pulling shit out of my ass right now....

Went today and going for a blood test in a few days. Smiley Also, are you okay Phyllis? You sound a little upset, I hope it wasn't anything I said.
