Phyllis, I would think you could get SSA to do a search for your work credits if you earned them. Course, I don't know exactly how it works, but I would sure try. I never wanted to get SSA, I swore I would work until retirement, but after my job fired me for being bipolar, at 55, and I couldn't get another job after trying for two years, I gave in. I still miss working and wish that I could. But they fired me when I was so old that I couldn't find another job. I made the mistake of checking Monster out last week. I saw a job that sounded perfect for me--my heart leapt! Then I remembered that I am 62 and haven't worked in seven years. Damn, that sounded like a good job!
