Hi,
I have had past issues with ED's and am gaining weight on my med's. All I want to do is eat carbs and ice cream. At my last physical I hit the obesity mark for the first time in my life. Most all of my med's have the possible side effect of weight gain (or loss) - really helpful guys!
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kabuki or T&T "AKA" Thick and Tired :0(

My meds also have weight gain as a side affect. I find that I eat most at night and I am trying to nip that in the bud. But damn it if my Seroquel doesn't make me hungry! Sometimes I try to ignore it, but then my stomach starts growling!

I can't emphasize it enough, I can't stop eating. I would rather have the stability and have decided that I will worry about the weigh gain later. I have always been unable to control myself, it was better when it was exercise, but it beats the hell out of being drunk every night. Lurker

when I was on zyprexa I gained about 100 lbs then I lost about 60 lbs since. now that I am off zyprexa and on seroquel I hope I don't gain it all back but if I do then I will just have to diet or something, like last time. but I would rather be stable like Lurker said that's more important to me.

hi...
some medications make us "hungry" for whatever reason.. i've never really looked into the "why's"?
i didn't have any eating issues with lamictal or abilify, but did with some others.
even though i walked religiously when taking depakote, i still gained some weight. it's difficult, but yes, sometimes it's better to be stable. i hope things work out for you.

Lurker - I hear you about the stabiliy and feel blessed that my alcohol cravings are null. Gracie - I'm on abilify so maybe I can count that one out. I also walk everyday for physical and mental relief. Thanks so much to everyone for your responses and non-judgement. I hate to come off as superficial, but I just got married in November. I guess it just makes me feel more pressure to look like those idiots in fashion mags

that is true...if you start to skip meals then your body will start to store fat up as it doesnt know when it will be fed again.....as daft as it sounds eating a little of the right foods(not chocolate, like me)four times a day can help your body to burn up the fat that your body stores for emergencies.eventually your body will get used to this and continually burn it off and not store so much of it.be careful with exercise and some people go mad on exercising and wonder why they are not losing, thats because muscle is heavier than fat.

When I first began meds after the devistation of the crash into BPD, I gained 70lbs. in about 4 months. Since them I have become less hungry and I do not eat much, so why in the shit am I not losing weight? I might as well throw myself into a box of Krispy Kremes.
