High this is my second marriage (1st one 21 yrs).  I am Southern Baptist and very active. I do understand what your saying. I agree that when it affect you as a person and your stability that is can become an issue and you are lucky that your husband identifies with that. You, it sounds like are learning to see this yourself? It happens to all of us at points, as it seems some even really enjoy sucking us to a low point. My comment about my husband was to say that he just does not accept helping other ppl when you are in a marriage situation. Only attention goes to the husband. I am just not wired that way (was never hidden, I am been working th ER'S, hospitals, jails, crisis centers for yrs, Center for unwed mothers and church mission field), but the "you can only focus on one person" came after the marriage. This is typical to his bipolar. I have to have a life too, had children prior and I am not going to walk (OK, roll) away from something that is my passion. Nor, am I going to put my children to the side. That is something that a person should understand and should not be one way, until a marriage is completed and then do a 360. As I stated, am active in church and God blesses what I do with others (at least he keeps putting them and myself there, so that is my reading of it). I don't think it is right to insist on every ounce of someones attention, just for control. With 2 ppl in the house, I assure you, there is no lack of attention. That was what I was saying, maybe I missed on getting it on paper correctly.  J

Thanks High, I was just sitting here wondering what the hell was the meaning. I know he was trying to be funny, but that statement really lacked understanding about the true nature of this illness. It is not something any of us have control over I wish I didn't know the depth of depression that happen for no reason, nor the mania that happens. I know everyone has been depressed but few who are not one of us really understand the depth of it. Suicide is a horrible conclusion to this illness that happens to 20% of us, I have had it affect my life in many ways, we need to support each other and help find ways of preventing it. An off handed remark is not positive, I think that Frog needs to be here just for the understanding the he may gain.
