Yes I had ECT at the beginning of last year and it did not work at all! I went through 10 sessions of torture for nothing! It totally screwed up my memory, it took about 1 year to somewhat get it back. But even though I went through hell, I do not regret doing it. I am medicine resistant so I will try anything. I think it has a 60% success rate, not sure on that. It has helped many people, otherwise they would not do it. If you are thinking about doing it just do lots of research on it so you know what to expect. Good luck.

I have never had it done, but when I was in the hospital, there was a girl going through the treatments. It was almost painful to watch. I have been in touch with her since I left the hospital,  and she said that she wouldn't have changed it for anything. I hope that helps you...

I have heard some of the worst stories about ECT--there was an anti-psyxchiatry group here called Network Against Psychiatric Assault that was primarily an anti-ECT group. They actually persuaded the city of Berkeley to ban it for a considerable period of time. Personally I don't see how shooting electricity thrugh my skull is going to be good for me, but many people swear it "helped" them, so what can i say!

I've been very curious about it lately. I wonder if the side effects from being electricuted outweigh the ones that we get from meds.
