started geodon this week and am up to 160mb.  so far no side effects, not too sleepy, no racing thoughts but i absolutely can't sit still and concentrate on anything - but i was like that pretty much before so not sure i can blame the meds.  here's to geodon it's my last shot!!! i've tried everything else.

oh K..I hope it works for you. Don't look at it as your last try. You can take some of your old meds mixed in new combos maybe.xxxhigh

I can't really say anything about Geodon. Maybe Paz will chime in. I know she takes it.

I love Geodon...it's my favorite med next to lithium & valium. There is no weight gain, no sleepiness, no side effects that I can speak of. I've been on it for 9 months and I can't say anything bad about it. Good luck with it, I have had tremendous success with it keeping the rage down. Smiley

so far things are going well on the geodon except for not being able to sit still. but swimming is helping and i hope to soon have my treadmill up and going and then all i have to do is remember music is helpful.    i have also asked my pdoc about cogentin but he has not called me back yet.
thanks for the imput!

Well we went to high pdoc today and she put high on Geodon it is 25 mg. it is to help her with the rage and to have more anger and help her sleep. she also told me to stay up with her tonight and make sure she does ok with it. This was the last time we will see her she is moving  to Fl. so if anyone live in FL  she is a very good pdoc.

hi frog.. i just started the med a week ago and so far it's been ok.  it doesn't really help me to go to sleep i still need other meds for that. last night i took 25mg seroquel to help and it did but i had a hard time waking.  i'm taking 160 mg and find that i'm a little anxious and have a difficult time sitting still. someone recommended cogentin but my pdoc had me just increase my beta blocker which is atenenol. i'm still having the tingling in my legs and am not really tired but not all that energetic but it does slow the racing thoughts.  i sure hope high has a good response from it and that it helps! i don't know any bad side effects to look out for and so far i don't think i've had any.

Well, it's only been two days, but I really don't feel any difference yet, maybe a little more lazy feeling, just as I was feeling more energy, but it sure isn't helping me sleep. 160mg? She only put me on 20mg  WTF Anyway, do you just take yours at night or in increments throughout the day?

As a general rule, it takes 1 - 2 weeks for a new med to get into your system.
Sometimes you can tell a difference right away, but most times you need to wait.

thanks for the imput phyllis i'm definately going to be giving this drug a try for awhile.  but damn i sure miss the highs.

high,  i take 80mg in the am and 80 at night. but like i said i feel a little letharigic during the day but it doesn't help me to go to sleep at night i still take xanax and restoril and sometimes seroquel.   and yeah, i don't know my doc just seems obsessed about high doses. sometimes i think he basis it on what kinds of samples he has.  or maybe he just thinks i'm a crazy maniac... tough call!

I only take it once a day...usually with dinner. If you read my earlier post, you will see that I have no side effects to speak of.....it kills my appetite, but that's ok. it keeps me at 108 lbs so I'm not complaining. I feel it has helped with keeping my rage down...I take 80 mgs, sometimes an extra 20 mgs in the day if I feel funny, like mania wants to break through my wall of meds. That doesn't happen very often.  But I don't get sleepy from it at all, if I can't sleep, I take a valium. My 4 meds are Lithium, Depakote, Geodon and Valium.  Oh, and thyroid hormone, and Vicodin for pain. The Geodon will work, give it time, and take it with food, that's very important, it absorbs better when taken with food, so it works better. Good Luck!!

it's been about a month since i've started geodon and now am far worse off than before.  i am completely volatile and can't sit still or concentrate. i have lost all ability to do anything except dwell on how my legs and body can't tolerate a moment of calmness. my pdoc put me on propananol to try to stop the agitation but it hasn't worked. to get through the day i take gobs of xanax just to exist. i think i've given it a good try i just don't know if i wait it out until my next visit or just go off right now and come to terms that i'm medicine resistant except to seroquel and what a happy thought to go back on seroquel to find any sense of peace.
